Caelus Tower
In a site as difficult as the Bronx, resistance to change and gentrication, for this project we decided to create a blend of housing typologies and to challenge the definition of luxury and structural representation in a residential space. We sought to explore a variety of structural elements including the space frame, the truss, the box truss, the x-frame, and combined them with several housing types to provide an equitable living experience for those who reside not just in the tower, but also in the horizontal skyscraper and the bridge. Each element provides access to an original piece of program, from a pool, to an interior courtyard garden/walkway, to a variety of shared balconies. However, all of the program elements are shared by the residents. School: Columbia GSAPP Critic: Hilary Sample Project Partner: Lincoln Antonio
